Karikku Movie Pooja Held on April 16, 2026

Karikku, the OG name when it comes to Malayalam web content, is finally moving into films with a project that has been in the news for quite some time now. The pooja for the film was held on April 16, 2026, marking a formal start after a long phase of just announcements and wait.

The film will be directed by Nikhil Prasad, who is also producing it along with Ananthu S, co founder of Xylem. The pooja event saw the presence of most of the core Karikku team along with the producers, which gives it that in house vibe rather than a typical industry launch.

Actors like Anu K Aniyan, Sabareesh Sajjin, Arjun Ratan, Kiran Viyyath, Jeevan Stephen and Krishna Chandran have been part of Karikku from early on, but unlike many other social media creators who made a quick jump into films in the last few years, this group has largely stayed within their own space. In a way, this movie feels like a delayed entry into a space they could have explored much earlier.

There were also rumours at one point about certain restrictions or informal agreements that prevented them from taking up outside film work, though nothing concrete was ever confirmed. Whatever the reason, this film now becomes their first real step into mainstream cinema as a unit.

Karikku started on a very small scale, but over time their production quality has grown significantly. At the same time, there has been a noticeable dip in the humor factor in some of their recent content. That makes this film a bit more interesting, because it is not just about scale anymore. It is about whether they can bring back that sharp, relatable fun in a format that demands more consistency.

Right now, this feels less like a debut and more like a test of timing. They are not early anymore, and they are definitely not new. So the question is pretty simple. Can they translate what worked for them on YouTube into a film that holds for two hours.
