Varavu

Varavu has the ingredients of a classic Shaji Kailas revenge drama, but the execution does not always work. The story is fairly predictable, and the action sequences lack the impact I expected from the trailer. There are some stylish shots and a good theme score, but the old school treatment often feels dated rather than nostalgic. Joju George fits the role well and carries the film with his screen presence, while Murali Gopy also makes an impression. Overall, it feels more like a throwback to an older style of Malayalam commercial cinema than a fresh take on it.
