Mohiniyattam
*Mohiniyattam*, also known as *Bharathanatyam 2*, is a much stronger sequel that shifts the series into dark comedy. Set after the events of *Bharathanatyam*, the story follows Sasidharan and his family as a visit from an old friend of Bharathan Nair brings some unexpected revelations. The writing keeps the central idea of hiding the truth from the first film but takes it in a darker and more eventful direction, with plenty of satire and callbacks to the original. The humour works particularly well in the second half, while Suraj Venjaramoodu, Baby Jean and the returning cast make the most of the expanded character dynamics. The wide shots, production design and overall visual treatment also suit the new tone. Overall, *Mohiniyattam* improves on the first film and delivers an entertaining dark comedy with very few dull moments.
