Patriot vs FEUOK: Is the Revenue Sharing Dispute Finally Resolved?
A dispute has been brewing between the producers of Patriot and FEUOK over revenue sharing ahead of the film’s planned release on May 19, 2026.
The producers of Patriot are reportedly asking for a 60% share for both the first and second weeks of the theatrical run. Usually, the standard practice in Kerala theatres is 60% in the first week and 55% in the second week.
According to the producers, the film has been made on a large budget of around ₹120 crore, and they are trying to recover a major part of the investment during the initial weeks of release. In the current box office trend, most films make the bulk of their collections in the first two weeks, so even a 5% difference in revenue share can have a noticeable impact.
However, FEUOK has reportedly opposed this demand. The exhibitors’ body has even asked theatre owners to boycott the film if the producers insist on the revised revenue-sharing terms. From their side, theatre owners say that giving up the additional 5% share in the second week could result in significant losses for them, especially at a time when theatres have not had many major hits recently.
With the holiday season approaching, theatre owners see this period as an important opportunity to bring audiences back to theatres and improve collections.
Industry circles hope that both sides will reach a compromise soon so that the film can release on schedule on May 19, 2026.
