Bha Bha Ba was one of the most awaited Malayalam films of 2025. Expectations were high, thanks to its cast and crew, the involvement of established technicians, a reputed producer, and an extended cameo by Mohanlal. Marketed as a major comeback project for Dileep, the film also enjoyed a Christmas-season release, traditionally one of the most favourable windows for Malayalam cinema.

On paper, Bha Bha Ba had everything going for it. In reality, it turned out to be a box-office dud.

With an estimated budget of around ₹30 crore, the film managed to collect only about ₹40 crore gross worldwide. Even without factoring in promotional expenses and corporate bookings, the movie recovered only about 65% of its production cost. Kerala audiences are often socially conscious, and negative sentiment spreads quickly online. In today’s internet-driven environment, once a film is caught in such controversy, sustaining its box-office run becomes extremely difficult. In comparison, Bha Bha Ba seemed to overestimate the pull of nostalgia, legacy associations, and cameos. Without something fresh or emotionally engaging at its core, the film failed to connect. In today’s market, even the biggest names cannot save a high-budget film if the content doesn’t resonate.
