Mollywood Times is an upcoming Malayalam movie directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak. The film stars Naslen, Sangeeth Prathap and Sharafudheen in the lead roles. It is produced by Ashiq Usman under the banner of Ashiq Usman Productions and written by Ramu Sunil.
Abhinav Sunder Nayak’s previous film Mukundan Unni Associates received strong critical acclaim and later developed a cult following among Malayalam cinema audiences. Mollywood Times also brings together Naslen and Sangeeth Prathap again after their 2024 blockbuster Premalu.
The project was first announced in 2024 with the interesting tagline “A Hate Letter to Cinema”. The exact genre of the film has not been revealed yet, but the theme appears to focus on the struggles and realities inside the Malayalam film industry.
Abhinav Sunder Nayak recently shared a cryptic image teasing the film. The image carried a line asking “What do you want to tell aspiring filmmakers?” and the answer shown was “Mollywood Times”, which further increased curiosity around the project.
For producer Ashiq Usman, the film is an important project as his previous production Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira failed at the box office. Meanwhile Naslen continues his strong run in Malayalam cinema after the massive success of Premalu and several successful films since 2024. If Mollywood Times works at the box office, it could further strengthen his position as one of the most bankable young stars in the industry.
The film is expected to release on May 14, 2026 during the summer vacation season along with other major releases including Pallichattampi and Kattalan.
